Geocache Description:

Near a pretty lake, summer time only access, 5000 to 6000 feet in elevation. Some moderately tough hiking involved.

After several reports in a row of people not being able to find the cache Barb and I replaced it on August 20, 2005--our 29th wedding anniversary.

There are at least two ways to approach this cache. Probably it is best to approach from the North. It is several miles of rough, graveled, road, but it is the shortest hike. If you don't make it all the way here you probably can find the cache with identical (originally) contents: "Half Loony". My advice is to go to use the coordinates for "Half Loony" to get you on the right trail for this one. When you get to the lake we took the eastern route. You will have to cross a stream and you should take water-proof boots or a towel to dry your feet when take off your shoes and socks. Insect repellent is also a good idea. It will take you several hours so bring food and lots of water.

The cache is a black, five-gallon, olive barrel. It has a screw on lid that can be opened by hand. The original cache contents were five small boxes of matches, one box of toothpickes, two butane lighters, one 5/16" x 25' utility rope, 5 packages of lentils from my brothers farm, and some brochures.
