Geocache Description:

This event cache is being put on to bring back the good old days of what an EVENT cache was like in the first years of geocaching and is going to be at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown KY. Rain or Shine. It will be held on Sunday October 11th from 9:30am until 1:00pm

Remember the early days of geocaching when events were few and far in between, way before megas and flash mobs. Even if you are new to geocaching, I invite you to come out for and old fashioned geocaching event. There will be event caches, swag giveaways, geocaching competitions and of course there will be a lot of geocaching stories to tell.

This is the group shot from the original Caching in the Heartland event in 2003, two of these cachers are no longer with us and some do not cache anymore, but if you look closely you will see some veterans of the game.

This is a group shot from the Caching in the Heartland 2 event in 2005. Some of the same faces with a few more in the group. Make sure you make the group shot for this year.

2015 picture

Fall is here and it is time to put on that old sweatshirt and hiking boots and get out on the hunt. You don’t have to worry about mosquitoes, ticks, bees, chiggers or snakes.

To keep this simple, I ask that you bring your own food and drinks. I have reserved a pavilion that has tables a playground and Porto potties.

Group photo will be taken at 10am and the event caches coordinates will be given out at 10:15am. The Great Pumpkin returns along with an old fashioned how fast can you manually put a coordinate in your GPS contest (so be practicing the old lost art of entering coordinates manually).

There will be 4 event caches put out for this event as well as a few new caches placed in town that will post the night before the event.
