This cache was designed to be fun for the whole family. It includes a little exercise, a little learning about nature and a lot of appreciating this beautiful park. This is a fairly easy multi-cache to find but it will take a little time. I only ask that you take your time and enjoy the natural beauty this park has to offer. If you have some bread, bring it along. The ducks and swans will love you for it! If you haven’t found the other two caches here at Swan Lake, this would be a great time. (GCKV07 and GCW2YE) You could grab both of them while hunting this one as you will be walking fairly close to each of them.

...And the FTF goes to... scnascar! CONGRATULATIONS!!

STAGE ONE

Park in the Swan Lake parking lot and follow the cache coordinates through the gate to the bronze sign depicting a map and some history of the park.

Answer the following questions to decipher the coordinates to the second stage. When you have it figured out, proceed south (notice cardinal direction points on the ground) and keep the lake on your left as you walk to stage two.

1. A = What is the last digit of the year that Mr. Jimmie McDuffie donated the pedestrian crossover connecting the Bland and Heath gardens.

2. B = What is the last digit in the year that the Friends of Swan Lake was organized.

3. C = What is the third digit of the year Mr. Hamilton Carr Bland began developing the gardens.

Stage Two Coordinates: N 33 AA.BCC W080 CC.BBA

STAGE TWO

Locate the series of bronze signs and answer the following questions from them.

1. A = The height the Pineapple Sage can grow in one season.
2. B = The lower end of the listed height of Lavender.
3. C = The approximate height of the ‘Mohawk’ shrub.
4. D = One third of the height of a Russian Sage.
5. E = The number of sides of the Genus Salvia Sage stem added to the number of species of it listed.
6. F = The high end height of the ‘Dwarf Snowflake’.
7. G = The size of the ripe banana smelling flowers.

Stage Three Coordinates: N 33 AA.BCF W080 BB.DEG

STAGE THREE

This bench is my favorite in the park. It’s a good spot to take a break and watch nature. Sit down and take it all in but watch out for the angry swan. Several times here, I’ve had a female white swan try and run me off. It’s kind of funny actually. One time her mate started over and yelled at her for doing so and she just sulked away. There is no nest around that I could find. I have seen her several times over the last 3 years or so.

It is on this bench that you will find the coordinates to the final cache.

FINAL CACHE LOCATION

At the final location I averaged the coordinates for quite a while and I think I got them pretty close despite the trees in the area trying to throw me off. The cache is visible once you are on top of it and should make for a pretty easy find.

Went out for the second time to hunt this cache on Monday..... no luck again! Searched forever at the 3rd stage, no luck finding the coordinates. My neice, son and I must have searched high and low on every bench in the park. The Angry Swan was a little farther away from us and really had no interest in our doings. Lots of muggles that day so we had to sit and wait for them to leave. Hope to go searching again!

Finally! Took way too long, but a nice day and we finally finished this cache. Great job. Left the perfect TB.

Got two stages but couldn't find the coordinates in the time I had left. Will try again. I carefully looked for the angry swan but I was left alone to wander around looking for the third stage stats. I will return! Thanks for a good walk around the park, good information.

Decided to attempt this one after lunch today. Planted grandpa on the bench to watch the water fowl and hubby a friend and I were off. First 2 stages went well...found the bench but no angry swan and as we set on the bench trying to decide where else to look for the coordinates who should come by with his family but georgesam's BIL. To the rescue again.! After a few more garmin lessons we were spot on. SL and let samgeorge's niece pick out a spongebob and had her place a pumpkin man into the cache! Had a great afternoon at the park, collected grandpa and headed home to plot our next adventure! Thanks. Great multi!

This one took two trips. The first trip we got stuck at the third stage, or at least I thought it was the third stage. Realized on the second trip I got one of the clues wrong at the second stage and went to the wrong spot. It took me to a bench but it was the wrong bench. Got it all figured out the second trip and made it to the end. Lots of fun. TFTH.
