Geocache Description:

Cache is located on the east side of the largest of three Klone Lakes, located in the Olympic National Forest. For years, I've heard stories about how good the fishing is from those that have been there. Since I'm not a fisherman, can't provide any first hand knowledge. I did see an 8" Brook Trout swim past my feet while standing at the edge.

There are at least three approaches. None are easy, game trails only. I parked at N 47°27.226 W123°33.660, the end of an overgrown logging road. Hiked up the road about 2 miles, and then straight up a clearcut. Took me about 2 hard hours to cover the little over 2 1/2 miles with 2,200' elevation gain. There was a gentleman there with his 8 yr old son. The boy was sleeping off the climb when I arrived. It had taken them 7 hrs to hike up from the lower road, and had crossed paths with a bear on the way in. They started around N47°28.299 W123°31.890 as best I can tell. A high clearence, four wheel drive vehicle is required for this approach. The trip is shorter, but steeper. He also acknowledged that he had approached from the the west in years past. Not sure where he started or how long that had taken him.

My EPE was running in the 150' range after 15 minutes, so I placed the ammo box at the base of a large tree broken off about 8' up. The stump is located about 40' south of the outlet creek and is shown in the spoiler pic. Make sure you view this before attempting.

You will be in bear and cat country, so please don't try this one alone.
