Ownership of the springs passed from the native Indian tribes
who revered them to an Indian trader, Nathaniel Walker who bought
them with corn. The site passed through several hands until it was
acquired by L.P. Boylston. On July 21, 1944 he deeded the land and
springs to God. The waters by analysis are exceptionally pure and
contain healthful minerals. People today, as in the past, believe
they truly are Healing Springs.
Many know of the springs, but few know of the 1 other spring
nearby that comes up into a man made bath. This is where the Native
Americans would bathe the injured. I saw this bath on the news over
10 years ago and kept searching the area on each trip I made until
I had found it. On one occasion, I sank waist deep in mud with one
leg and was barely able to make it out, so be careful after long
periods of rain.
Park at the coordinates given for Mweather's Virtual and bring
some empty gallon jugs and fill up with some water while you are
here. Trek through the woods and the coordinates for the cache will
bring you to the bath. The cache is located close to a nearby
magnolia tree.
Please trek back through the woods instead of taking the old
road out as it goes through private property and ends up at the
back of a residence.
