Einzelschöpfung der Natur:
Sandplatte
Bregenz/Lauterach
Der Sandstein, aus dem der
Molasseaufbruch besteht, entstand vor vielen Millionen Jahren.
Damals befand sich nördlich der Alpen ein Restmeer, das sich vom
Mittelmeer über die Schweiz bis in das Wiener Becken erstreckte.
Aus dem Alpenbereich kommende Flüsse bauten Schuttkegel auf, die im
Meer bearbeitet wurden. Geologische Strukturen, die während der
Ablagerung entstanden (z.B. Sandwellen, Strömungsrippel), sind an
diesem Naturdenkmal besonders gut sichtbar. Zig Millionen Jahre
alte Wohnbauten von Krabben liefern die Bestätigung, dass das
Gestein in einem Meer entstanden
ist.
Das Rheintal ist ein eiszeitlich
tief ausgräumtes Tal. Durch die Verfüllung mit Ton und Schotter
durch den Rheines und seine Nebenflüsse seit der letzten Eiszeit
(seit ca. 10.000 Jahren) ist ein mehr oder weniger flacher Talboden
entstanden.
Die Bregenzer Ache fließt nach
Austritt aus dem Gebirge (in Kennelbach) bei Bregenz-Rieden
nochmals über Sandsteine der Molassezone.
Dieser Sandstein stellt ein
Hindernis für die Bregenzer Ache dar.
In den niederschlagsreichen
Jahreszeiten sorgen Wasser und mitgeführtes Festmaterial für
Erosion. Kleine Rinnen und Strudeltöpfe, sogenannte Kolke, werden
gebildet. Vergleichbare Erosionsformen sind in Vorarlberg selten
und kommen im Rheintal selbst an keiner anderen Stelle vor.
Die Sandplatte muss nicht betreten
werden.
Aufgaben:
1. Suche die Schautafel bei der
Sandplatte – Südseite/Nordseite (auf welcher Seite des Flusses
steht sie?).
2. Vor wie vielen Millionen
Jahren entstand der Sandstein.
3. Wer bearbeitete im Meer den
Sand.
4. Schätze die Länge der
Sandplatte die den Fluss behindert, in Meter.
Sende mir die Antworten über mein

A unique creation of nature:
Sandplatte Bregenz/Lauterach
The sandstone, which is made of
molasse, came into being many million years ago. Then, there used
to be in the north of the Alps a sea, which was spread across the
Mediterranean Sea including Swiss and the Vienna basin. Rivers,
which came from the alps, build a up a alluvial fans which the sea
worked on during millions of years.
Geological structures, which
emerged from accumulation, can be perfectly seen at this natural
monument. Residential buildings of crabs, million years of age,
clearly demonstrate that the rock has been made by the sea.
The Rhine Valley came into being
during the last glacial period. It was the Rhine and its tributary
streams which made the valley plain. The so-called “Bregenzer
Ache”, a river that emerges out of the mountains (in Kennelbach)
near Bregenz-Rieden, runs through sandstone of a molasse
zone.
This sandstone is an obstacle for
the river. As a result, heavy rainfall lead to a erosion and scour.
Such erosion can hardly be found in Vorarlberg and does not exist
in the Rhine Valley somewhere else.
The sandplate needs not be
entered.
Task:
1. Look for the visual aid close
to the sandstone – Southside/ Northside (on wich of the river is
the visual aid?)
2. when did the sandstone
emerge?
3. From which is the sand worked
on in the sea?
4. Estimate the length of the
sandplate in meters, which impedes the river from flowing?
