History Lession
In the Terran year 2002, a
Centauri mother ship was disabled in near-Earth orbit,
releasing a number of small escape vehicles each in turn containing
a number of (at that time) small escape pods. The inhabitants of
the primitive planet quickly located the escape ships, the small
pods, and the unfortunate inhabitants. Only a few survived.
Later in 2004, Earth calendar, the
Centauri returned, assisted this time by the Martian High
Command in response to Terran robotic exploration of the Red
Planet. It took under four day/night cycles on this brutal planet
for ten additional explorers to disappear near the so called
Emerald City and its rival, the City of Destiny. The primitive
inhabitants were obviously increasing in their brutality, as well
as the power of their technology. This could not be allowed to
stand.
At that time, the Centauri High Council met and decided they
would need to construct a more forceful assault, triggering the
mutual defense pact recently signed with the Empire of Ork. Over
six Terran solar cycles passed until the next opportunity
arrived...
Assault Three
Over American Independence Day weekend 2010, thousands of
members of the Terran "People's Geolocation Cooperative" assembled
at Remlinger Farms near Carnation, Washington, in the United States
of America. The technological elite of the terran geolocation
community ate, drank, and celebrated their (perceived) prowess.
The Centauri chose this opportunity to attempt a third assault
on the Blue Marble, assisted by the nation-state of Ork, known
throughout the galaxy as being equally ruthless and merciless,
despite a facade of friendship and seeming good humor presented by
their despotic Ambassador.
Ten small scout ships in a camoflaged dispersment vessel arrived
on Earch at this event, essentially 'hidden in plain sight' under
cover of a variety of vendors at a large open air market of
primitive technology hobbiests. The deployment was able to begin
anew...
The assault was launched, this time assisted by Orkan Nano-Nano
(ouch) microtechnology. This time the results would be
different.
Instructions
This cache contains ten (10) individually colored nanos acquired
at Geowoodstock-VIII. Each finder may take no more than one (1)
nano and to hide it someplace appropriately Centarui-esque.
The nanos are inside a camoflaged Altoids tin within a 4"
square lock-and-lock. If you take the last nano, feel free to take
the camo'd containment vessel too.
The cache is initially trinketless. When you take a nano, add
a small trinket to the lock+lock please to seed the cache with
geocaching karma
Colors (in alphabetical order) are:
Black Blue Brown Green Silver
Orange
Red
Violet White Yellow
When you hide your nano, please name it as follows so they
can be searched for easily :
Centauri Alliance (Orkan Nano my_color_here)
Note: if you want to repaint the nanos, feel free, but please
maintain the basic color. Your challenge as the hider is of course
to find a color-coordinated hiding place. Thanks...and drop me an
email to let me know when you hide the nano. I'll set up a bookmark
list for folks to track their progress.
And if it wasn't obvious, you can of course just find this as a
normal cache without taking a nano
Extra special FTF Wolf 'request'
For those FTF Wolves among us, I have a special request for you.
In short, please let others get the fun for a change.
Accordingly, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd cool your jets
based on how recently you've had a FTF:
- if you have had a FTF in the last week, wait "four" days after
the first find before seeking this cache please.
- if you have had a FTF in the last two weeks, wait "three"
days
- if you have had a FTF in the last three weeks, wait "two"
days
- if you have had a FTF in the last four weeks, wait "one"
day
- anybody else go for it.
Thank you
