When we first began hiding caches, they were named after various literary works. Now that we have reached the 1K milestone, we are changing our theme. Caches will be either in honor of or in memory of people that have influenced either one or both of us over our years.
This first hide covers both. It is in honor of a great cacher and friend, Yogi, and in memory of my Uncle Ron who was often known as Taz. after his favorite cartoon character, The Tasmanian Devil.
Why two people of no relation to each other? Two people that never met each other? Easy ... these two men are so very much alike.
After spending only a few hours with Yogi, he reminded me so much of my uncle. His sense of humor, his tendency to be plain spoken, his willingness to help and just his all around fun loving nature, reminds me so much of Uncle Ron. They even kinda favor.
James Ronald "Ron" McLaughlin was more than just my uncle, he was a great friend. I could talk to him about anything. I always felt comfortable. Yogi makes me feel the same way. I always feel so comfortable talking to him. Whether a serious conversation or an off color joke, Yogi makes everyone feel like they have known him forever.
Yogi and Taz may not be from the same cartoon script, but these two men definitely came from the same mould. Thanks to both of them for being a friend and making this cacher/niece the woman she is today.
This cache is placed on a dead end road that was created with the expansion of Hwy. 412.
