IgnotusPeverell: Greetings,

I'm IgnotusPeverell, one of the volunteer reviewers for geocaches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It appears the geocache, and the geocache owner have moved on - so this cache is being archived.

Geocache Description:

"Buddy", a lonely dog on his own.

I was geocaching for "PVCC" and "REPORTING A NEW CACHE" when a medium size black and white dog came walking up the road towards me. He didn't have a collar, and as he got closer I could see that he had a wound on the left side of his neck and another on the lower right side of his chest. He had obviously been in a fight. He was not aggressive towards me at all, but was very cautious. I tried talking to him for a while and he hung around and watched me. I decided to continue looking for the cache, and he continued to hang and watched me. I wanted so bad to take him to his home, or to mine, he seemed lonely and was obviously surviving on his own.

I was on my way to work, but I would have gladly put him in the car and would have taken him someplace where he could get care and food. After a while he wondered off. I have had dogs all of my life and knew that I shouldn't just try to grab him or put him in the car. I wished him well as I watched as I watched him walk off to the NW from "Reporting a New Cache". I found the cache and went back to the car just sitting there wishing I could have done something.

I feel bad for "Buddy", as I named him in that quick moment. and I wondered how many more like him are around. Most of the time it's our carelessness that causes these sort of situations. I also know enough about dogs to be able to tell that "Buddy" was not the sort of dog that tries to get into trouble.

I have driven past the area several times since and have not seen him since. He has either moved on, or has been picked up, which may not necessarily be good - I don't know which. But I wanted to place a cache near where I met "Buddy" in his honor, and the honor of the hundreds of dogs like him that find themselves the innocent victims of our carelessness.

"Buddy", this one is for you!!!GODSPEED!!
