In our local area we often have to use the services of a Car Ferry or Punt to get our vehicles across the river and into the neighbouring suburbs. The ride on the ferry is always a pleasure, a fascination with the tourists and locals alike, and a big thrill for the kids as well. People are always taking photos and chatting car to car on the short trip across the river, so I thought this would be a great idea for a virtual.
To claim this cache you'll need to log some photos that include at least the following.
A picture of a Ferry operating with cars on board, taken from the river bank and including your GPS in the photo.
A picture taken on board the ferry.(Be aware that in some countries/states leaving your car is prohibited)
A picture showing the cable workings is not compulsory but would be nice if possible. For safety reasons keep well clear of any gears and runners.
Your co-ordinates should be taken at the centre of the Ferry Crossing and these must be included with your log.
For the purposes of this cache, the definition of a Ferry is a FIXED CABLE running VEHICULAR FERRY or PUNT, not a sea going car ferry that goes from port to port or a passenger only ferry. Ordinary ferries that cross rivers without the fixed cable also would not count.
A ferry can only be logged here once and only one log per geocacher. Please, no old vacation photos or internet rip-offs.
Have fun.
BTW The co-ordinates given are of our local ferry, Berowra Waters. I have not included any photos so that this ferry may still be logged by whoever gets there first.
