Geocache Description:

Highland Woods was a 2010 Treasure of Oz featured site. See Treasures of Oz: Explore the Ozaukee Coast for details about this year's event to be held on Saturday, 6/18/2011.

Each of the Treasures of Oz sites tells a part of the county's environmental story. Highland Woods is about controlling invasive species like garlic mustard.

The cache is a peanut butter jar with several small trading items.

About Highland Woods

This 85 acre parcel was purchased by the Ozaukee Land Trust through generous private donations, City of Mequon funds from the land acquisition account, and a grant from the DNR. The Ozaukee Land Trust turned the property over to the City in 1996 as a passive use nature and educational study area. An agreement between the OWLT, City of Mequon, and the DNR governs the site.

About Treasures of Oz celebration:

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, we'll celebrate Ozaukee County's significant natural resources. Join us for the free, kid-friendly, day of exploring the following seven sites. We'll wrap up the day with food, music, and a raffle at Forest Beach Migratory Preserve. See TreasuresOfOz.org for more details.
