Harefield ‘Grand Union’ Series. #4
So you’ve probably taken on Viaduct Vaults, now is the time for another challenge.
You must approach this cache from the path that runs parallel to the canal, but not the tow path. You should have no problems if you follow the GPS arrow from The Colne Covert Confusion Cache and it’s the same path that
‘Tree Fingers and a Box’ is on.
Near the cache location is a pylon for the 132,000 Volts National Grid that runs between the large substation west of Uxbridge and the Watford Electricity Transmission Station. This network makes up what you could call the ‘M25 of Electric Power’ for London.
In summer you may have to beat your way though 3 or 4m of high nettles, but after that it’s solid ‘ground’ all the way to the cache site. The cache is wedged in, so don’t drop it, and please ensure it is firmly in place when
you leave.
We recommend you now head on to ‘Tree Fingers and a Box’ cache.
The complete series of 6 caches will take about 2.5 hours.
