*** CACHE IS NOT
AT THE LISTED COORDINATES ***
BACKGROUND:
Like many geocachers, I started out with an entry-level,
non-mapping Garmin eTrex Yellow. This served me well for my first
eighty or ninety caches, but I knew there had to be a way to avoid
"blindly following the arrow." Sure, the arrow points you in the
direction of the shortest approach "as the crow flies," but most
cachers are earthbound and thus must choose a more roundabout path
to the cache.
After following the arrow to countless dead-end roads,
impenetrable swamps, rapidly flowing rivers, and other obstacles
both natural and man-made, I finally bit the bullet and got a
mapping unit, which I typically keep loaded with Topo maps. This
has saved me countless hours in the field, and I can't imagine how
I ever got along prior to the upgrade.
THE CACHE:
Whether you have a mapping GPS or not, you'll still have to
"follow the arrow" to locate this cache. Simply study the image
below, which will (eventually) divulge its secret:
Once you've punched in the the correct coordinates, follow the
arrow wherever it may lead. You'll be looking for a camouflaged
Texmati container, stashed in an obvious geocaching spot and
holding a logbook, a pen, and a few trade items. I've also enclosed
a 2005 GOWT Geocoin. Happy trails!
