Geocache Description:

Located on a byway in the Fens, the terrain is flat but challenging. Some sections of the route run alongside water filled ditches.

This cache was placed by members of JeepClub during a springtime excursion. It is located on a byway, an unsurfaced road with a public right of way for mechanically propelled vehicles. Whilst it is possible to walk, cycle or ride to this cache, drivers of four wheel drive vehicles and horse drawn carriages will enjoy finding it. DO NOT attempt to drive this journey in a car or soft road 4x4 such as a RAV4, X5 or ML. The journey to and from the cache will be challenging.

Only experienced off-tarmac drivers should attempt driving and only in a group with properly equipped, capable 4x4’s. Byways in the surrounding area are often used by agricultural vehicles with very large tyres which can make driving difficult for smaller vehicles and horse drawn carriages. Some lengths of the byway are overgrown and rely on vehicle traffic to keep them clear for other users. Be prepared to trim back the foliage if you don’t want to get scratched. Don’t forget, once you’ve found the cache you either have to go back or go onward!

The cache was placed on Sunday 4th April 2004 as a small biscuit tin painted in camo’ green, brown and black, with the URL ‘WWW.GEOCACHING.COM’ stencilled in grey on the lid and on the underside of the tin. The following items were originally in the tin:-

Pokemon character ‘Charmander’
Green plastic soldier
Bat
Plastic dinosaur ‘Dimetrodon’
Small brooch
Toy police car
Large marble

Since adoption and overhaul in September 2014, the cache is now a medium sized clip box with a camouflage lid but the location has not changed.
