This cache is placed near the ruins of a castle that not many
people know exists
Mileham Castle is an impressive earthwork, and a fine example of a
“motte and Bailey” castle. The land surrounding the monument, and
the moat, is managed in the interests of wildlife without the use
of chemical sprays or fertilisers. Extensive clearance of scrub has
opened up some splendid views from the castle mound itself, and the
whole site offers opportunities for some very pleasant short walks.
Please park consideratly on the roadside. access to the site is via
a kissing gate. You are looking for a tupperware style box hidden
within the vicinity of the ruins, the moat still contains water so
keep an eye on small children. The land surrounding the ruins is
used for livestock so please keep dogs on a lead if livestock are
present (and watch were you walk). It is possible to get an all
terrain buggy near the cache but not all the way to it. The cache
is NOT hidden within the castle ruins so please DO NOT move any
stones.
