This is a camping required night
cache.
You must be
prepared.
"Foxfire" is an ammo box cache on Holston Mountain near Flint Rock
(GCN6R4). The cache is intended to be found at night by flashlight.
This cache requires a significant effort and should be planned in
advance.
To find the cache:
- Plan your expedition.
- Camp at or near Flint Rock.
- Arrive at the posted coordinates after dark. These coordinates
will lead you near an intersection of the Flint Mill Trail and a
very short side trail.
- With flashlight in hand, follow the "foxfire" to the cache. The
final location is within 300 feet of posted coordinates.
There is a first to find prize including, but not limited to, a
one-of-a-kind FTF patch custom made specifically for this
cache.
Other notes:
- The type of reflective tacks (aka "foxfire") used for this
cache respond well to LED flashlights, but you will also want a
more powerful light source.
- You should carry multiple light sources and you will quickly
learn what works best.
- You may encounter dangerous plants and wildlife on this
adventure.
