Parking is at OS SH698153 on the minor road signed Cadair Idris from Dolgellau.
From the car park allow 40 minutes to reach the lake on a well defined track.
The Fox’s Path (named by Victorian visitors who frequently saw fox’s here) starts opposite the Gwernan Lake Hotel, climbing through superb country with the Rhinogs dominating the views to the north and with the imposing cliffs of Cadair Idris ahead.
On reaching the lake, cross the outlet stream (can be difficult after heavy rain) The cache is close by!
