Chester was a Roman city from about 70 AD for further information please visit (visit link)
For details of General Roman Life try (visit link) Starting at one of the biggest remaining Roman Amphitheatres in Britain head west and enter the Roman Gardens, a collection of artefacts which were placed here in the 1950's and further extended in the year 2000. Whilst here please note the number on the 5th plinth on your Right(it is upside down) and the size of each side of the Hypocaust. From here get onto the wall and head North. Leave the wall by the large dovecote. Head west along the cobbles and eventually exit out of the large gateway. Please head south to end up at the cross. Please take note of when the Townhall was opened and when st Peter's church was founded. Find a seat and calculate the position of the cache as follows
North = N 53 10 (when St Peter's was founded plus the number from the column)
West = W 002 55 (Side of the hypocaust +a+a+b+c+d) where abcd = date the town hall was opened
Two ways to access the cache
1) Return to your car and drive to Saltney, parking near to the railway bridge then walk to the river
2)Walk to the cache (about 1.5 miles) from the Cross go down Watergate street till you find a path besides the Railway, follow this until you reach the top of the steps, turn right and follow path between the golf club and the river
