This compound was originally a Pacific Telephone & Telegraph
repeater station. It was built in 1929 to amplify long distance
calls transmitted on cables between Los Angeles and Bakersfield as
part of the phone line to San Francisco. At the time the location
was so remote that housing was provided for families of employees
that operated the station. Quail Lake is visible in the distance.
This is part of a series of caches along the Old Ridge Route.
This cache was originally named "Old Ridge Route - Windmill
View". I knew a little of the history of the location, and renamed
it "Can You Hear Me Now" after verifying with some internet
research. Sorry for any confusion the name change caused. --YJ
