Geocache Description:

A remote section of the Yough River Trail, a short hike with a steep hill, and a spectacular view... This is Fayette Cong caching!

Along a remote section of the Yough River Trail approximately half way between Ohiopyle and Connellsville is a little church camp called Camp Carmel. Surrounding this camp is some of the greatest examples of why people love caching in the Fayette Cong.

Stage One

This multi's stage one is very close to the Yough River Trail. Stage two is only about .17 mile away, but you can expect at least a 30 min hike one way. It is steep, unstable, and hard but the view is worth it. When the leaves are off of the trees you can see the train trestle adjacent to QM's Hampton Cache from the final stage.

As stage one may be prone to theft or the elements, there are two ways to find the coords for the final stage. The first is to find the cache and input the coords into your gpsr as a traditional multi cache. The second is to use the picture above to decipher the following puzzle to fill in the coords:

39 57.A1B
79 30.C9D

Once you are near the coords for stage one you will see the sign for Camp Carmel (see picture above). Below the “Look Here!” in the picture you will find five words; utilize these words to decipher the coords:

A - Take the number of vowels in the second word and multiply it by four.
B - How many vowels are in the fourth word?
C - Take the number of vowels in the third word and add six.
D - How many vowels are in the fifth word?

It may be possible to drive with approximately .1 mile of the first stage; however, I am not going to give directions for this as the route may soon be closed. If you can find it, and make it through - kudos to you!

Please note stage two is on the outskirts of Pennsylvania State Gamelands, so during the peak deer season (November 15 - December 15, except Sundays), you must "wear a minimum of 250 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange-colored material on the head, chest and back combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same colored material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360° arc".
