The Pink Panther originally featured in the opening and closing credits of the first Pink Panther movie (1963). The animation was such a success that the film studio, United Artists, commisioned more animated shorts for the theatre. 124 were made in total (1964-1980).
The character's popularity spilled over into his own TV show (1969-1980) where he was joined by several different cohorts: The Inspector, The Ant and the Aardvark, Crazylegs Crane.
The Pink Panther remained generally silent, speaking in only two of the early cartoons. The animation was accompanied by jazz music which gave the cartoon its atmosphere.
The term 'Panther' describes a genus of big cat that includes Lion, Leopard and Tiger. While we can't be sure which specific species the Pink Panther belongs to we do know that he is positively pink.
The Pink Panther is hiding just off a tarmac track, not far from the old railway bridge. The terrain rating reflects the fact you can reach this cache without walking over any fields or seeing any mud, but if you are doing the whole series don't forget the terrain is not so dry in other places.
