Geocache Description:

On a York Land Trust Conservation Area.

This cache is on the Hilton-Winn Kings Grant Conservation Area, a public access project of the York Land Trust (YLT). It is near a trail, close to the Linda Gurtman Pedestrian Bridge, named in honor of my wife's tireless work as a YLT Board Member, Stewardship Committee Member, and Volunteer. The Bridge was built by an Americorps volunteer crew completing their 10-month committment in Maine, under the direction of Don Leuchs, the YLT Stewardship Coordinator. Decking materials were donated by the Correct Building Products Company of Biddeford. The severe flooding of the week of 16 April 2007 washed out the bridge footings, and the bridge ended up about 60 yards downstream. After an extended period, lengthened by legal wrangling between the Land Trust & the Town of Wells, Linda's Bridge has been replaced!!

Update as of April, 2010: The cache is still there! But, once again, Linda's Bridge has been washed downstream. Also see pictures keyed to Maintenance Entry of 10 April 2010.

Please hide the cache well. Vandals trashed the Bridge sign bearing Linda's name, and would probably trash the cache if they found it.
