Geocache Description:

Shinran stayed Mt. Togakushi for 100 days. When he started praying, the pond was said to respond to the prayer with the bubbles at its bottom. When he stopped, the bubbles quieted. He was delighted to find the pond in responce to his reciting Nenbutsu, so he named it the Nenbutsu (prayer) pond.

Shinran, as well as his master Honen, is exiled according to a prayer
ban, and he stayed for about 5 years in Echigo, Niigata and then set
off toward the district of Kanto. Echigo (Niigata) and Shinano (Nagano) are adjacent. Although being exiled, he was quite free from confinement.

Shinran stayed Mt. Togakushi for 100 days, bending his knees for the advent of Amitabha Tathagata at the top of Mt. Takatuma, a range of peaks of Mt. Togakushi. On the way back from the mountain, he got a sense of uncanny feelings. He then went into the woods and found a pond. When he started praying, the pond was said to respond to the prayer with the bubbles at its bottom. When he stopped, the bubbles quieted. He was delighted to find the pond in responce to his reciting Nenbutsu, so he named it the Nenbutsu (prayer) pond.

Cache is located near the pond.
