This cache has been archived.

macscouter: This one appears to have been a victim of the Missouri flooding. The area is unrecognizable, even Ben's marker seems to be missing.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates listed above are NOT the actual coordinates for the cache. To find the actual coordinates you will need to solve the message below to find the cache. The terrain is generally flat although you may want to heed the old motto about "Where there are three -- leave it be." as there may be a bit of poison ivy "hanging" around.

This cache has been placed near site of the "Annual Lewis and Clark White Catfish Camp Living History Weekend" at the Western Historic Trails Center. White Catfish Camp has its roots in July 1804 when Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery made camp near present-day Council Bluffs. The five-day stop was an opportunity to repair equipment and make astronomical observations. On July 24, 1804, one of the members of the Corps of Discovery, Silas Goodrich, caught an albino catfish, giving the camp its name.
This geocache was placed at the Western Historic Trails Center
in honor of Ben Petrzilka, one of the Boy Scouts
who died at the Little Sioux tragedy in June of 2008.
The day Ben left for Little Sioux Scout Camp,
he earned his Historical Trails Award while helping
out with The Historic Trails Day here. Ben was an
exemplary Boy Scout and person who loved adventure and
scouting. He is greatly missed by his troop, friends,
and family.

This geocache is here in his honor.
