This is a multi-cache situated in and around the medieval village
of Lacock in Wiltshire. There are a series of clues to be found
which will enable you to unlock the final co-ordinates to the
physical cache placed about 1.4 miles away. The posted co-ordinates
will take you to a suggested free parking area, advised, as parking
in the village is difficult. The physical cache consists of a 2.6L
plastic lock box in a Camo Bag.
Lacock is a fairly well known medieval village close to the River
Avon and noted for its Abbey, which was originally a 13th century
nunnery, now cared for by the National Trust, as is much of the
actual village itself. It was also the home of William Henry Fox
Talbot a pioneer of photography and inventor of the negative. There
is so much history in and around the village that it would be wrong
to list individual places. Be assured though that it is certainly a
place to visit and spend an hour or two. Just to wet your appetite
some of the things that may be found are the Stagecoach road to
Bath, superb Inns and hostelries, a dog spit wheel, the packhorse
bridge and ford, converted work houses, St Cyriac's the parish
church, a lock-up and many more interesting places. Many films have
been shot here, amongst them, The Moonraker, Harry Potter, Pride
and Prejudice, Moll Flanders, Mayor of Casterbridge, Randall and
Hopkirk and not long back Tom Browns Schooldays. The attraction is
that the village is old and unspoilt no TV aerials or double yellow
lines to be found anywhere here. The area is that quaint that Her
Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall, has her Wiltshire
residence situated about a mile and a half away in the hamlet at
Reybridge.
