Geocache Description:

The cache is a 50 cal. ammo box, hidden in the rocks of a unique site.

Some powered parachute pilot friends of mine discovered this site several years ago. Ever since our first hike into this site on a 100 degree day I’ve been planning this cache. Now it’s your turn, enjoy.

This was our second attempt at placing this cache. The first ended with us sleeping in our truck for the night, STUCK in the mud of “dry” Sunflower Lake, which you must drive through to get here. Most of the year this area is either frozen solid or dry and dusty, if the road is muddy turn back and try another day. It gets worst the farther in you go. Any other time the road is narrow, rutted and rocky, a high clearance vehicle is a good idea. You can drive within .3 miles of the cache.

As always when caching, be mindful of this high desert location. The weather can be very hot, very dry, very cold, and very windy and help is a long ways off. Be prepared!

The cache is an 50 cal.ammo box, hidden in; you guessed it, the rocks. A small first-finders prize, awaits the adventurous geocacher. You might want to take the picture with you.

Use your imagination and envision how this site might have contributed to the economy of the town of Imperial. While in the area keep your eyes open for other areas of interest. The signs of a long abandoned community are all around you. Including obsidian chips from eons ago when natives would craft arrow-heads from the natural glass of nearby Glass Butte.

You might want to add this cache to your day of doing the town of Imperial caches. GCJTGY, GCJTGK, and GCJTGV Please do not disturb the artifacts; they make this place what it is.
