The Grace Cole Memorial Nature Preserve consists of 15 acres of
mostly undeveloped wetland and forest in Lake Forest Park. The most
accessible parking is located by turning from NE 178th Street onto
28th Avenue NE, and stopping when 30th Avenue NE curves into NE
166th Street at N 47 44.957, W 122 17.796.
The park is named after Grace Cole, a noted conservationist who
represented the 32nd District for 16 years and who was also a
member of the Shoreline School Board. Restoration is one of the
primary purposes for creating this park, which is intended to
protect the headwaters and wetlands of Brookside Creek, a tributary
of the salmon-bearing McAleer Creek.
The cache, a small lock-n-lock approximately six feet away from
the trail, can be located after walking uphill on a clearly-used
trail. Check out that classic Northwest hiding location.
