Geocache Description:

There are snakes at both stages. I have seen water mocassins at both stages. No problem at stage 1, but be very careful at stage 2. All coordinates are WGS84. Oh, like Casey Jones, you'd better watch your speed.

Six Sicks Icks

While hiding this cache, I saw and heard more crows in the cypress swamp than ever before. Their boisterous CAW-CAW-CAW echoing among the cypress and tupelo. One crow lay dead at the point where I emerged from the marsh, its bones bleaching chalky white in the hot June sun. Was it an omen? Should I have turned around and gone home? Perhaps. It fit well with the overall feel of this cache, though.

Stage one will take you into a beautiful cypress swamp. Walk slowly and quietly for the best experience. At the hide location, relax a while and let the wildlife accept your presence. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you see.

Near Stage 1 is a certain and identifiable Bald Cypress (taxodium distichum) that is due west of stage 2. Not that it helps much, but it could be a good check of your coordinates if used just right.

Stage two may be completely inaccessible at times due to the forces of nature. Enjoy!

Since this cache was placed on the day many people felt that something horrible might happen - perhaps some demon-spawn was born, hmmm? - I'd appreciate it if you would include details of the evil that befalls you during your hunt.

Did you step on a moccasin? Did you get a speeding ticket in Piperton or Rossville (or both)? Did a Sasquatch come out of the swamp and steal your fancy new 60CSx while you were stuck up to your knees in swamp gunk?

If it's been raining recently, you may want to check the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service page for Rossville. High water could mean a dangerous hunt.

I strongly encourage you to hunt this one at night.
