The Redoubt, once we reached it, was nothing more than a spit of land with the remaining Mayans arrayed across it with a few pikes facing towards us. We assembled in the slanting light and marched towards them without any question of what we would do. We were going to kill them, and we did. Straight up the center the men pushed them to the sides and slaughtered them wherever we found them, without mercy. More than a few of our men fell as well, but we were the ones standing when it was all done.
The men fell to looting the bodies, looking for more of the breastplates. A few were found, most similar to those I had seen, but one stood out. I copied it and the number Natomi showed me when she was shown it, then copied my notes and hid them once again.
As I was doing so, I spied two figures running off to the North. Two of the Mayans were getting away. We had to follow them. I suspected I knew what they were carrying...
