Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

The Monte Cache is reached by traveling east along Route 66 from Albuquerque and turning off into the Monticello Subdivision. You will end up parking at an Open Space parking area that requires no fee. Enjoy the nice hike on a gradual incline into a small valley.
A good short hike for those that enjoy the easier hiking. This cache gets you high enough to look back south toward I-40 and across into the Cibola National Forest. The trails are good, many to choose from with the last bit of the hike off-trail.

The first part of the journey by car will test your skills. The Open Space parking is easy to find, but you may make a few wrong turns in the Subdivision, however, the drive is worth making.

During the summer keep your eyes open for the biting critters and slithering ground dwellers.

The cache is a Regular Size cache (Coffee Can) with the following contents:
((Now in ammo box. Thank you Puzzler!))

Mini Wheels Construction Set
Compass w/Pencil (For Drawing)
Stuffed Dog
True Value Car
Latexfree Bandaides
Shout Wipes (For those blood stained clothes)
Ear Plugs with String
Tecate Bottle Opener Keychain
Super Ball
Eucerin Sunblock 15
Walletsize Picture Frame

Happy Hunting,

Found our way to the cache. Nice hike to a beautiful spot. Had to smoke a blunt just to push it over the top.

Thanks again,

So much for the leisure stroll I set out on. Everything was uphill to and from here.

Second find of a morning of hiking and caching. I loved the slight bushwacking to find the cache and had a wonderful time. TFTC

Nice Cache. Just winding down after a busy week at work. Settling into my weekend. Weathor was nice (slight wind and cool/cloudy). The clouds were nice since this area of the mountain can be a scorcher during the heat of the day.
I have hiked past this area (the small rock wall perimeters-there are 2 of them) a couple times and did not know there was a cache nearby.
I will bring my kids back since this cache is not a leg burner and a good cache to teach younger ones about GPS-Also currently putting togethor a land Nav course in this area.
Heading to Pea Shooter (by Pilgrim and Tonto)..mdw.
