Transit 101 Multi-cache

This is a unique cache I came up with while looking at my bus schedule. As the name states, it’s basically an introduction to the public transportation system in Galesburg, IL. This cache will take you through a majority of the City of Galesburg via bus. This cache is not difficult, no puzzles to figure out. It’s kind of a tour of Galesburg with a prize at the end. A majority of the cache is handicap accessible; however I would recommend that wheelchair user be accompanied by a walking person due to the fact that getting across the street to the actual cache and to the actual cache may be a problem. This is a child friendly cache; they will probably get a kick out of riding the bus. Also the actual cache area has a playground. This should be a good Saturday morning cache.
WARNING: This cache is only available during the operating hours of the Public Transit System in Galesburg and will take you a minimum of 3 hours to complete. So please do not attempt to start this cache after 2:40pm. The operating hours of Galesburg Transit are 7am to 6pm Monday through Saturday. There is no service on Sunday.
Now on to the Cache:
1. Find the Catch Us Now! Cache (GCWPK8) and grab a Geo Pass (this will allow you to use the bus at no cost).
2. Take the Geo Pass into the Transit Office located on the same property as the Catch Us Now! Cache, get the Geo Pass validated and grab a bus schedule. Note: the Geo Pass will only be valid for the day it is validated.
3. Board the Green Route at coordinates N 40º 56.408 W 090º 20.725 at 40 minutes after the hour. Be sure to show the driver your Geo Pass every time you board a bus!
4. Ask the bus driver for the Green Clue. Please return the clue to the driver before getting off the bus.
5. Follow each driver’s clue to the cache. The cache is a plastic jug painted black in a small public park in Galesburg. When you get off the bus at the final cache area the bus will be back every hour at approximately 18 minutes after the hour. The last bus will pickup at approximately 5:18pm. If you miss the last bus the number for the local taxi service is (309) 341-6161.
6. The quickest way back to your starting point when done is to get back on the Red Route where you got off for the final cache and transfer to the Green Route at Sandburg Mall.
I’m not really sure how popular this cache will be since it takes so long to complete. My purpose for this cache is (a) to get people that live in Galesburg familiar with the public transit system and (b) for those people not familiar with Galesburg it will give them a good look at the community. The original contents of this cache are: log book, pencil, pen, small doll, Pumba light, Spiderman water squirter, pink plastic bead necklace, thumb decks playing cards, 25th anniversary bus token and 15th anniversary bus token. Utility pouch for First to Find!
This cache should be big enough for small to medium size travel bugs.
