Geocache Description:

AKA best for "Turner Burners". Small/medium container in Pt Mugu State Prk, at least 4 mi from nearest trailhead (but 7 from most others), w/considerable elevation gain/loss and much possible adventure.

W/all the recent kilo caches, parties, testimonials, etc., cacher adulation may be getting out of hand, but we always owe Slegal gratitude for managing our Conejo Cachers website (denniscoins.com/geocaching). As does his revised website title, this cache offers hiking, biking AND caching. And since we know Scott's recent thoughts on urban micros, I decided to place this cache, in his honor, as far from "urban" and "micro" as I could find.

It's easiest to reach this cache by bike (but a great but long hike too), therefore, the "Turner Burner" reference, in honor of Scott's classy new mtn bike.

You'll find the cache where the well-graded Guadalasca Trail intersects with the Overlook Trail. Several possible starting points but expect at least a minimum 8 mi R/T, at least 1,200' vertical. Watch for poison oak along Guadalasca (perhaps since it's so seldom traveled by hikers).

I started at my house; from the Satwiwa Cultural Center in Newbury Park, to the cache and down the Overlook Trail (E-ticket mtn bike ride!) to the edge of the ocean at Sycamore Cove, it was 15 miles. So plan several hours at least.

My rough calculations indicate that there are at least 8,265 places where additional caches could be placed in this area west of Big Sycamore road. Hiking and biking cachers - go for it! You'll love the views and the solitude.

And thanks again, Scott!
