Geocache Description:

Lipstick Beach

Photo of OtterNOTE: As with other large lakes, Pitt Lake is subject to strong winds and waves which can make paddling dangerous. Be sure to check weather forecasts before venturing out to this cache and carry extra food and clothing with you in the event that inclement weather prohibits you from travelling.

Also note that access along the west shore to and from Grant Narrows is generally not possible due to falling tides that expose a large sandbar at the south end of the lake. You will need to travel along the east shore of the lake in the deepened channel.

This cache was placed while fellow cacher sept1c_tank was visiting from Indiana. While on our journey, sept1c_tank revealed that he had been holding on to something very special -- it was a Travel Bug by the name of Francesca. There is a long and interesting story behind Francesca and you'll have to visit her travel bug page to learn more. We decided to dedicate this cache and this location to Frannie, the windswept, free spirited, hitch-hiker.

The coordinates will take you to two logs that cross and look like a set of lips. From the back of the lips go 15 meters at 90 degrees magnetic to find the cache.

The cache contains only a logbook and pencil and is well hidden. No trading is necessary as the container is quite small. If you decide to leave something please make certain that the contents to not inhibit the lid from sealing properly.

Make a Contribution: Cache in and Trash Out!
You can contribute to the preservation of this wilderness area by promoting and supporting good caching in and trashing out practices. Throw a couple of plastic bags in your pack for carrying out bits of litter. A grocery size plastic bag won't take up much space and will stay organized if you stuff it into an empty film container.

Have fun and enjoy your trip to Lipstick Beach!
