Geocache Description:

This cache is located a the top of a knoll and to the West of Picacho Peak State Park.

I was up here looking for benchmarks (CZ1933) and thinking that this would make a great virtual cache due to the location and the fantastic views. After I found the triangulation station I noticed an unnatural pile of rocks a few feet away from the marker. To my surprise, there was a small jar buried within the rock pile. The jar was made of glass and looked very old. It contained a log and a pencil, apparently it was placed in 1-29-90, see photo. I decided to add a geocache-log to the jar, the back of the benchmark description, and submit the cache as a regular geocache. The most recent log was in 5-4-2002.

To get to this cache, park at the Sunset Vista trailhead in Picacho Peak State Park. It is roughly a 1 mile hike to the cache. Pay heed to the 4 star terrain rating, and the 3 star search rating. If you are not the adventurous type, you may want to leave this one alone. Don't forget to look for the three NGS disks while you are in the area.
