Please note the update about stage one in the
description!
This is a three stage multi at a great park in Jackson. This is
my first hide, so I am trying make it interesting. Feedback is
appreciated.
I have always loved this park. I just found out after my
placement that someone else had had a cache here before, so I hope
mine is different enough and does it justice. I have no idea where
the previous one was.
The park is open 8AM to 7:30PM May – Sept., and 8AM until dusk
Oct. – April. The entrance is: N: 35°37.097 W: 088°52.539
The cache does require a little walking, about 1.5 miles total,
but it is easy walking in beautiful surroundings. This is what most
of the Mississippi delta once looked like; a primordial swamp. The
only difference is you could walk through this one in dress shoes
and come out spotless (you’ll see). Be on the lookout for deer,
raccoons, turtles, fish, and other beasts of the wild. You also
will encounter some very large birds, standing guard and staring at
you… The first stage is a virtual.
At the given coordinates, you will find a sign, half in English,
half in Latin.
**UPDATE!!!** For whatever reason, they have taken down the
sign! You can see where it was, though, and I have taken the
liberty of hiding a traditional cache stage a few feet from where
it was that includes the original text of the sign! You will need
this to continue!
Take the original coordinates and alter them by replacing the
last four digits with the answers to the following:
N: last four digits= 7000 minus the combined number of letters
in the first and last words on the sign.
W: last four digits= 1900 minus the number of letters in the
second word on the sign.
This gives you coordinates to stage two. Stage two is a round
tin containing coordinates to the final stage. I stuck an abandoned
wasp nest in there to keep the muggles away. Don't be afraid. Stage
three is a traditional cache containing a log and trade items.
There is not a ton of room in the container, so keep items and
travel bugs small. Please place caches back like you found them and
be careful not to drop anything along the way, ESPECIALLY your
GPSr, or you may not be able to retrieve it!
