Nomex: Hi Peaceable Rhino
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

You may email me at via the link to my profile on the log. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GCxxxx number, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

An adventuresome multicache that brings you down a spine between Harding and Santiago Canyons to the treasure.

The route to the cache from the first waypoint is short, but rugged and covered with a thick growth of chaparral. It follows game trails over the spine of a ridge leading forth from Mount Modjeska along the Harding Trail. The distance is less than a third of a mile, but allow yourself about thirty minutes to get to the cache and struggle back through the scrub oak, cenocanthus, and mountain mahoghany.

From Waypoint 1 to Waypoint 2, the path is deceptively clear. You'll cross a cleared area for heavy equipment to the opening of the game trail.

Waypoint 2 to Waypoint 3 is the shortest of the legs in distance, but will cost you the most time due to the faintness of the path. A pair of garden clippers may be helpful as you press through this. Or you may choose to crawl on your hands and knees.

From Waypoint 3 to Waypoint 4, the route is clearer than the previous. You'll proceed along the top of the ridge. Enjoy the views down into the unnamed tributary of Santiago Canyon on your left and Harding Canyon on your right.

Waypoint 4 brings you to a tricky path that follows the rim of the canyon. Go slowly here and watch your step. You won't fall hundreds of feet, but there are plenty of thorny plants below waiting to break your fall. After a few steps, you'll come again to another clear path. Follow this to the cache.

What's the loot? You're looking for a stoppered glass gift jar. Inside you'll find:

  • 1 wooden pig cutout
  • 1 wooden car cutout
  • 1 wooden soccer ball cutout
  • 1 wooden purple butterfly
  • 2 x 2 dinar coins
  • 1 x 100 dinar coin
  • 1 purple frog
  • 1 shark
  • 1 fan
  • 1 silver palm tree charm
  • 1 silver flower charm
  • 2 split rings
  • 3 marbles
  • 1 miniature bungie cord
  • 2 x AA batteries

This trail is not recommended for families with small children. It is best that you attempt it in the company of a friend. When I laid it out, I spotted a set of mountain lion tracks leading out of the game trail, across the lot, and up Harding Canyon Trail. Be alert to the dangers.

In summer, it is essential that you bring ample amounts of water. A hat is always helpful. A staff can assist when you negotiate the trickier sections of this route.

Getting to the cache and out again will earn you the Oak Leaf Cluster.
