Cherry Cache II Traditional Geocache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Rock Rabbit: This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines.

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please post a note here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Geocache Description:

Park at approx. N47 deg 44.728' W121 54.463' Plenty of roadside parking at junction of Mountain View Road NE and NE Cherry Valley Road. One car may park just past the junction by the gated road.

This is mostly a hike on a series of old logging roads behind a gate. The cache is at a beautiful spot. You'll have to go there to find out just what I mean. The coords listed above are for the cache.

No bushwacking is required! Please don't submit pictures. I want to leave the cache area a surprise. Thanks!

It is possible to get there from a different way than I'm guiding you, but I don't know that way. If you should try another approach, it'll be up to you. If you go my way, round trip is about 5.5 miles. You can bike much of this except for the cutoff trail and near cache location. Oh, there isn't much elevation gain...just a few hundered feet and grade is pretty easy for the most part.

Start your journey by hiking up the gated road. In about 0.75 miles, you'll reach a bridge crossing of Margaret Creek. Approx. coords: N47 deg 44.997' W121 deg 53.723' Lake Margaret is just a few miles upstream.

Hike roughly another quarter mile to another junction on your right. Keep straight. Approx. coords:N47 deg 45.089' W121 deg 53.545'

In another .20 mile or so, reach yet another junction. You'll want to keep right or straight. Left goes to Margaret Lake. Approx. coords: N47 deg 45.180' W121 deg 53.424'

Keep straight for about 0.40 miles to where the road bends to right sharply. Actually, this looks like a "T" junction now that some folks have made the cutoff trail wider. Take the left this time. Approx. coords: N47 deg 45.480' W121 deg 53.222'

This cutoff trail is very short...maybe 0.14 miles long. It's in the process of being brushed so it's wider than it was when I was in the area last. You'll probably need to walk your bikes during this section if you are biking this cache. It'll meet the end of another logging road.

Eventually, you will reach a small stream crossing (culverts). You are very close to the junction of the cache site! Approx. coords are: N47 deg 46.135' W121 52.638'

Just past the culverts, keep a sharp eye out for a junction on your right. This is where the fun begins! You'll be taking this right and from there on, it's up to you to figure out how to get to the cache!( Lock n Lock container).

I hid this cache long ago so you will note that the culverts are no longer there and that the road is trail-like now.
