Pirates of the Potomac: Voyage to Van Deventer Island

Long ago—five years t' be exact—Captain XJ put out a call fer a crew and set sail fer Little Duck Island. Rumors of a diabolical, lost treasure drew many others t' the land and it was upon that very shore that the very first council o' the Pirates of the Potomac was convened. Plans fer an attack on Heater`s Island soon followed, along with an expedition t' Knott`s, and then it was a return t' Heater`s Island fer some revenge. Tradition had been started, and even tho the ole' captain sailed away and became marooned on a landlocked isle, his orders t' those who sail th' Potomac seas still be clear — 'tis time t' host the sails an' prepare fer another adventure!

Every swashbuckler must arrange their own method o' transportation fer this voyage. Swim, sail, paddle, motor, fly — 'tis completely up t' ye — but know the counsel gathers at 10:30 a.m. at th' marked spot. Thar be multiple points from which to launch. Which to use to join the armada be best left t' ye as well. Some pirates might be lookin' fer short voyages; others might be enjoying a longer one. Waypoints have been provided for the two launches probably most logical though.

So prepare your vessels, launch your sails, follow th' map to the treasured isles, and come join us on October 20, 2012 for the 5th anniversary gathering of the Pirates of the Potomac! There will be old and new treasure to seek, snacks to eat, friendly crew to socialize with and, of course, plenty of fun hopefully to be had. :)

Do keep a watch on this page. Updates on river conditions, new treasures, etc. will be posted as information becomes available. For the event, do bring your own drink. Anyone who wants to contribute any snacks or desserts: those will be appreciated as well. Of course, do keep in mind that this is an island event and what you bring needs to be transportable.
