This location is on the easement, but be nice and don't walk in the schoolhouses yard. You can easily reach this from roadside. THIS IS NOT IN THE FLOWERS!!!

It honors the history of the first settlement in Delaware County .

- Smithfield Indiana was settled on the banks of the White river, originally located in Randolph County , it was soon transfered land wise to Delaware County .
Smithfield was the name given to a small collection of houses which stood there long before the town was surveyed and laid out into town lots by the original proprietors, David Stout and William Duncan.
Todays adventure will take you to this small village.
Today, Smithfield lies about 6 miles southeast of Muncie at the intersection of East County Road 625 East and East County Road 167 South (Smithfield Pike) along the East bank of the White River .

The school house was built 1865 and built by returning civil war solders. The school is now a home, not a museum, please be respectful of that! There are great gardens of flowers from roadside along with a historical marker. You are just a short walk from the River, but obey all trespassing signs. Parking is limited at this location, but you can pull off just south of this location. Locals are friendly. This location is busy during the day and summer. Also, during the school year, I would suggest not being in the area during morning and evening times (start and end of school day) due to bus and traffic from local school just up road.

In the cache you will find stuff oriented toward school days and kids type stuff. A buck for the FTF and also a few state quarters for trade or just add your home state or any state. The container has already been replaced and is a Lock N Lock container.
