Favorite fishing spots are most of the time held in top secret
and sometimes never ever shared. With this series of Geocaches, I
am going to share many of my favorite onshore fishing spots with
you. These are all locations along waterways that I have spent many
hours fishing on. All of these spots bring back wonderful childhood
memories of biking to the park and fishing until (sometimes past)
supper time. Some of the spots still produce excellent off-shore
fishing opportunities so you may just want to bring along your
pole. I will also share what kinds of fish you might expect to
cache (I mean catch!) at these locations. I will leave it up to you
to choose the bait or lure! Can't share every secret....
-------------------------
This spot on the Pettenwell Lake will always be considered one
of my most favorite places to fish. All along the shore from near
the cache, the boat launch, the point and over on the rock wall
(both sides) are excellent choices. This place is always hopping
with local fisherman. In the spring you may also have a chance to
catch a Musky along this shoreline if you are as lucky as I once
was! Landed a 44 1/2" Musky on an ultra-light pole with 6lb test
line. This was an amazing event that I will never forget. That
particular Musky hangs on my wall. Nowadays I dont think you can
keep Musky that size from this body of water but back then you
could. Fishing along here you will have to watch out for catching
trees and keep an eye out for the bark.
Fish you may catch here include:
- Walleye
- Large Mouth Bass
- Crappie
- Blue Gill
- Pumpkinseed (sunfish)
- Perch
- Musky
- Carp
You are looking for a Micro-sized container and you should bring
a pen to log your find. The cache is not in the water. Watersnakes
like to hang out around along this shoreline in the summer months
so keep a watchful eye for them.
Winter Friendliness Rating: Findable in all
seasons.
Congratulations 2ofHis on the FTF!
