Just off Cooper Memorial Drive; park in the Rivergreen Hotel’s parking lot and follow the Riverwalk Trail which starts right next to the Cooper Memorial Bridge.
Although not a particularly pretty spot, this is the not-so-glamorous remaining evidence of JE Henry’s pulp and paper mill. The Henry Paper Company mill was built around 1900 right where you see the new seven story Riverwalk Hotel. After employing hundreds of people for generations, environmental concerns finally pressured the mill to cease operations in the mid-1970’s. Essentially nothing remains of this once flourishing paper mill except what you see before you!
