This cache has been archived.

scubapingu: Time to put this one to bed. To move it to the correct co-ords would be too far away from the original placement. Thanks to all who have found it.

Geocache Description:

A nice easy Drive By. Placed to make you stop and admire the view. It is all too easy to drive through the Vale of Clwyd without taking in the beauty.

Parking for this cache is right along side in a large layby. Please be careful with children and geomutts as this is alongside a busy main road. The cache contains a log book, pencil. It has no room for TB’s or Coins.

The Vale of Clwyd should not just be seen as a route from A to B. It has beauty (and caches) all the way along the path of the River Clwyd. From where it rises in the Clocaenog Forest, it flows due south until at Melin-Y-Wig it veers northwards, tracking the A494 to the historic market town of Ruthin. Here it leaves the relatively narrow Valley and enters a broad agricultural vale. Just south of the medieval castle town of Denbigh it is joined by the River Clywedog. This substantial tributary also has its source in the Clocaenog Forest but drains out to the east and north passing through Cyffylliog, Bontuchel and Rhewl. Alongside this is the little known Lady Bagots Drive which boasts several caches along its length, and is safe for Bikes, Children and Geomutts.
The Clwyd continues meandering northwards through the fertile Clwyd Valley to the cathedral city of St. Asaph where you will find the smallest cathedral in the UK, on to Rhuddlan and eventually out to sea at Rhyl.

The view from GZ takes in much of this landscape. Looking out over the rolling hills of the Clwydian Range. Moel Famau is the highest peak in this range rising 555 metres above sea level. It is known for it’s famous Jubilee Tower, which was built right at the top. It can be seen clearly from GZ if you look down to the right although it doesn’t look like much of a tower anymore as its now a ruin. It is still worth a visit as the views are breathtaking and the caches up to the top from any direction are many!

To celebrate their milestone, the 100th cache placed by
Team Marzipan was called The Mother Cache (GC15RYZ)
The object of The Mother Cache is for finders to take one of the ready-prepared caches, BUT ONLY if they are going to hide it as a Daughter Cache.
This is one of Two taken by myself and hidden. The two sisters in my care both want to be tour guides, the second one is in the Conwy Valley (GC20EQN). Can you find both and complete the family?

CONGRATULATIONS to MOLD MONSTERS for an early FTF. Well done.
