The only remnants of sea life here in Coralville are the Devonian-era, coral-reef fossils that gave the city its name. While you are in the area, be sure to visit the EarthCache at the Devonian Fossil Gorge near the Coralville Reservoir. This geocache is in honor of a young c_pup. His dad is a walking encyclopedia on those fossils. In fact, you may find he has caches of knowledge about topics far and wide.
This cache is meant to be easy enough for the beginner, yet still encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the trails. It can be a park-and-grab if you are riding a bike and a park-and-quick-walk if you aren't. No hills this time.
Please take care to wedge the cache and "holder" back into its hiding spot. It seems like the resident wildlife like to toss this one on the ground.
Street-side parking is available on the north side of Glen Oaks Ridge, near the trail head. The cache is not wheelchair accessible, but it's very near a paved trail.
Permit on file with the City of Coralville Parks and Rec Dept
Congrats to c_pup on his first find and FTF!
