Puzzled Monkey Traditional Geocache
Deceangi: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Interesting extensive ruin with unknown history and monkey puzzle tree!
THIS CACHE COULD BE RE-ENABLED NOW - IT WAS REPAIRED A FEW MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE HEARD THAT THE FORESTRY WORK HAS FINISHED!
Like most of our caches, this one is in the middle of nowhere but quite an interesting nowhere!
You can approach it from Pontrhydyfen, the birthplace of the actor Richard Burton, or from the tiny village of Abercregan (sometimes spelt Abergregan) or perhaps the easiest of all is from the visitor center at N51 38.550 W003 42.320. We approached from Abercregan and it is quite a hike. We haven't tried from the Visitor Centre but it seems from the map that there is a bridge over the river you will have to cross.
The cache is located near to an interesting ruin of a large, old house with a monkey puzzle tree to guard it. It seems strange now that someone would build such a house in this location but I suppose in the days when this whole valley was alive with industrial mine workings, it would have been almost a perfect location - peaceful and yet very close to the workings. If anyone finds out anything more about the ruin then please log it - perhaps they have some more information in the visitor centre.
