The cache is located on Chief Namakagon Island, which is part of
Lake Namakagon. The name "Chief Ice Feathers" is Chippewa for Chief
Namakagon.
It was here that old Chief Namakagon lived in hermitage the last 20
years of his life. The old indian apparently was caught in a severe
blizzard and was found frozen to death in the snow. He apparently
died on his way back from Ashland after retrieving silver from his
unknown mine. To this day, the silver mine has never been
found.
Make sure to check out the views from both ends of the island and
if you're real adventurous, you can pitch your tent and spend the
night.
Remember . . . this is an island so only accessible by boat in
summer and snowmobile in winter.
The FTF reward is a free drink chip for a local establishment.
