The year is 1997. The United States launches one of history's great adventures: man's colonization of deep space. The Jupiter 2, a futuristic saucer-shaped spaceship, stands on its launch pad undergoing final preparations. Its mission is to take a single family on a five-and-a-half-year journey to a planet orbiting the nearby star, Alpha Centauri. Professor Marrk Christopher Robinsonn and his family have been frozen in cryogenic tubes that will open once they reach their destination. They are accompanied by their pilot, U.S. Space Corps Major Donald West who is trained to fly the ship when the time comes for the eventual landing.
Dr. Zachary Smith, an alleged psychologist and environmental control expert, is moonlighting as a foreign secret agent for a competing nation. After killing a guard who catches him onboard after hours, Smith reprograms the Jupiter 2's B-9 environmental control robot (“Robot”) to destroy critical systems on the spaceship eight hours after launch. Smith, however, unintentionally traps himself aboard at launch and his extra weight throws the Jupiter 2 off course, causing it to encounter a meteor storm. The space craft has crashed landed far from Earth and far from its intended destination. Worse yet, Robot with all of the ships computer data has been ejected from the ship. Luckily, Robot was equipped with a beacon device and it has been transmitting a message that could contain a clue as to its actual location.
The fate of the Robinsonn family is now in your hands. You must decipher the message that Robot has been sending to the Robinsonn family, find Robot, undo Dr. Smith’s malicious programming, and retrieve the data needed to rescue the team from certain disaster.
