Geocache Description:

Note: this cache was activated over TEN YEARS ago, some things are out-of-date and done in an era not many remember or cached in. I've left it to try and preserve some of that history.

This is gonna be a frustrating one. Crowded pathway, bad GPS coverage, mosquitoes, and more....but it really isn't hard. New cache may not match coordinates exactly. Any updated coordinates is appreciated.

hint quick/hand decode: convert only within brackets

CACHE ADOPTION REQUESTS ARE BEING TAKEN. Private/email message me.

Cache is so named for the nearby tunnel that goes under the Air Rights Center office building, Wisconsin Avenue, United Artist Theaters, and leads out to the corner of Woodmont Av. and Bethesda Av. The Air Rights Center; called that because it is built overtop the old B&O railroad line (Georgetown Branch) property which is now the Capital Crescent Trail.

The cache itself is in a clear rubbermaid type container with a clear and dark blue lid. It hidden quite well, but may also be obvious to some. Depending on how you approach it can be a very long walk, or a very short walk.

The entire area is hard to get a good GPS signal so you may have to walk, then stop and let the GPS settle, then go again. In the winter months it may be a lot easier, but I can't guarantee that. In the Hints/Spoilers there's more info, but no outright answer to the hiding spot...I would take the coded info with you just in case.

This cache was archived in April of 2006 because four people in a row couldn't find it, and I did not check on it soon enough. But here's the funny part.....it was there THE WHOLE TIME. I finally got around to getting a new container for this cache, and hid it in nearly the same spot. To try and get a better read on the coordinates, I walked a bit back and fourth, but when I looked up, what did I happen to see, in plain sight for everyone to notice....it was the original cache. I nearly fell over laughing. So, after two years, not one of the thousands of people who walk by this spot every day never got curious and said "what's that". I mean it was RIGHT THERE! But needless to say, the cache is back, and should continue for some time now.

Prior to March 2008 the Found it ratio was 89.5%

For the next cacher to log this cache (kinda a FTF since it's been two years out-of-service) will get a sort of FTF treat. I've left a couple of DVDs for you to keep. Good luck.

NOTE: Yes, sometimes there is homeless belongings nearby. That is NOT the cache. The cache has existed next to this area for four or more years. If you find the homeless belongings, just leave them there and keep searching. Also note that the homeless person is never there. It may be abandoned, or they only return in the middle of the night. I use to work and walk nearby all the time, and never ever saw the homeless person there.

I dropped the star count 1/2 as man have been finding it. I also corrected some spelling and removed the text about working in the area (I haven't since 2008)

There is a new container that is wired so as to prevent it floating away. Old container may still be present. Either is fine, but prefer that the container with the cable be used.

Also, if you are doing the cache 'old school' and need to decrypt the hint by hint, just decrypt the words in the brackets to start. The hint is designed now more for smart phone users.
