Picnic Updates!
Hello all fellow geocachers! Our annual geo-picnic and pre-picnic breakfast is almost upon us and in an effort to aid planning, we are asking everyone who plans to attend to post a will attend log on each event with the number of people attending, to also indicate what item from the following list they would be willing to bring and if you have any donations for door prizes to list that as well.
Also all donations (prizes, cash for supplies, etc) will be accepted after the Flash Mob (GC3B3C7), at the pizza meeting (GC3N21H), at the pre-picnic breakfast event (GC3MMR8) and at the Picnic event (GC3KW78).
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, helped, volunteered etc so far.
We have received enough to now pay for the shelter, but will still accept donations for other incidentals, (tickets, door prizes, etc)!

Cache for Cache Contest!!!
The Cache for Cache contest is your opportunity to show off your cammo, creative and all around ingenious ideas for cache hides!
Two Divisions:
Small & Below: From nanos up to sandwich-sized Tupperware-style container or similar; less than approximately 1 quart.
Regular & Above: From larger Tupperware-style containers to ammo cans or larger.
Two Categories in each Division:
Most Creative: Imaginative, interesting, cute; overall creative in design and execution.
Most Challenging: Evil, difficult, well-camo’ed; overall challenging in design and execution.
The Fine Print
All entries must be new, not previously hidden caches.
Cache containers must be ready to hide, include a log book or log sheet, and be weather-proof (able to stand up to the elements without leaking or breaking).
Please name your cache.
There is no need to pre-enter and there is no limit on the number of entries.
Each entry will be assigned a number. Judges will not be aware of the name of the creator.
The containers will be judged by everyone attending the picnic.
Entries will be accepted by Lauri Anderson(wolfy1970) or Charlie(4America) at the Flash Mob on June 9th http://coord.info/GC3B3C7 or the Evening Pizza Meeting on June 18th, 2012 http://coord.info/GC3N21H .
All entries must be received by 1pm Sunday, June 24th. No late entries will be accepted.
All cache containers entered into this Contest become door prizes to be given away at the Event. This includes winning entries.
Contest entrants are eligible to win in more than one division and/or category.
Contest entrants are eligible to win containers as door prizes.
Containers will be on display at the picnic as entries are received until the prize drawings begin.
Winners will be announced beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. You need not be present to win, but it is preferred. If you cannot be present please make arrangements to have your prize picked up.

Post an online log that you were at the event, an "attended" log, by going to the box at the top-right corner of this page and click on " Log your visit" at the top of the list in the box. In the next screen, click on the text that reads
"- Select Type of Log -" and choose "Attended".
Add a comment describing your experience, and click on the Submit Log Entry button at the bottom of the page.

We are hosting a "Geocaching-101" session, dedicated to introducing people to a new outdoor activity called GEOCACHING.
Geocaching (Jee-oh-Cash-ing) is part of a worldwide outdoor game for GPS users. You get the opportunity to go walking, hiking, biking, boating, touring, etc., to hunt down and reach certain GPS coordinates. At the GPS location, you find something that was hidden there to document that you are one of the many people who have visited the GPS location. When you go after a geocache, you end up seeing amazing places that people generally never see in their lives.
The group will be gathering to learn how to use a hand-held GPS receiver, then go on an adventure to find hidden treasure, called "geocaches". If you own a GPS receiver, bring it (preferred, but not required) along with some fresh batteries. As part of the session, we will be venturing out to the countryside looking for local-area published geocaches.
To help with the planning please log your intentions to come.
To let the group know that you plan on attending, log in soon and post a "will attend" log by going to the box at the top-right corner of this page and click on " Log your visit" at the top of the list in the box. In the next screen, click on the text that reads
"- Select Type of Log -" and choose "Will Attend". Add a comment saying that you're coming, and click on the Submit Log Entry button at the bottom of the page.
AFTER the event, you can repeat the logging process, except you will choose "Attended" instead of "Will Attend".
Bring your Newbies (prefered, but not required). You know you have the greatest geo-stories. You are invited to help with this event. The more GPS receivers the better. We're counting on the general geocaching public to come and share your geo-guidance as part of the experienced geocaching team. After pizza and geo-intros, we'll be venturing outside to practice using a GPS receiver while on the hunt for a few local published geocaches.
In the event of "light" rain, bring an umbrella. We may go outside anyway.
Help would be most appreciated with any of the following.
- Bring a newbie.
- Bring your GPS receiver.
- Bring travel bugs/geocoins for trading/discovering.
- Bring copies of the geocaching brochure [PDF]
(black-and-white, print-from-home version).
- Bring your best stories.
These are some of the questions common for those who are just starting to get familiar with geocaching. Perhaps your question is one of these.
REMEMBER:
- Make the fair trade.
- Log your visit.
- Leave the site better than you found it.
- Protect the environment — always.
- Educate those around you.
- Find another cache!
