This series is dedicated to following caches alongside the
Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad, a shortline railroad that is
by no means ordinary. This is one of the last freight railroads
that you may still see operating an F unit from the 50's or some of
the last remaining Baldwin locomotives (and the ELS is also owner
of the only 2 remaining Baldwin "Sharknose" RF-16's in the world,
secretely secured somewhere in Escanaba.) Anyway around it, you
will be treated to a mix of locomotive power and color schemes
which always makes the ELS interesting.
Cache is camo colored container and contains logbook and pencil
and small trading items. $1 coin is included for FTF prize.
The nearby bridge is a great spot to experience the thunder of a
train passing underneath. If a train is headed northbound it may be
throttled way up to struggle up the grade. If the train is
southbound they may be using dynamic brakes to slow the train down
before town and the hill just south of the bridge.
