Little puzzle cache in Clarkson Park
Albert Einstein Medical Center was originally called the Jewish Hospital of Philadelphia. Abraham Sulzberger insisted in 1864 that a hospital was an urgent necessity in the community and that steps should be taken to secure the funds necessary to establish one. The hospital was incorporated September 23, 1865. The first site of the hospital was at Fifty-sixth street and Haverford Road. Within a decade the needs of the first hospital had outgrown its accommodations, and in 1873, it moved to its present location on Old York road.
The above coordinates are bogus, however, they do lead you to a monument at the entrance to Clarkson Park across the street from the hospital. Clarkson Park and Clarkson Avenue are named after Matthew Clarkson, (1733-1800) who was a Delegate to Continental Congress from Pennsylvania and mayor of Philadelphia, 1792-96. To find the true coords, you must:
1) Find another monument in the park dedicated to George McKensie Poinsett.
2) Take the last two digits of the year that the monument was constructed (Roman Numerals), add them to the number of minutes you can get for a dime on an Old York Road parking meter and add them to the last two digits of the North coordinates.
3) Then take the day of the month that Poinsett died and subtract it from the last 3 digits of the West coordinates.
